Yesterday, we reported that gas prices in Pennsylvania are quickly approaching five dollars per gallon and today continues to add meaning to that statement.
Triple-A reports that the cost of a regular gallon of regular gas in Pennsylvania sits at $4.95, marking a one-cent uptick since yesterday and nearly a 20 cent hike since last week. To show how quickly gas prices are rising, yesterday’s average cost across Pennsylvania was $4.91 and Saturday’s average was $4.89.
The national average cost of a gallon of gas increased by two cents since yesterday, coming in this morning at $4.86 a gallon. One week ago, the national average was $4.62 a gallon; one month ago, it was $4.28 a gallon; and one year ago today, the national average was $3.05.
Triple-A reports that the increase in gas prices is due to the decrease in domestic gasoline stocks while the national gasoline demand increased. Demand increased from 8.8 million to 8.98 million.
Gasbuddy.com reports that stations in Indiana, Blairsville, Homer City and Clymer have an average gas price of $4.79 as of this morning.
