Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. says a Nanty Glo man died from blunt force trauma in a collision yesterday between his motorcycle and a tri-axle dump truck.
It happened shortly before 10 AM on Route 422 in Pine Township when the truck driven by 76-year-old Russell Hoy of Penn Run pulled out from Route 403 into the path of the motorcycle operated by 33-year-old Matthew Kowchuck of Nanty Glo. The cycle hit the truck’s second axle and became lodged under the bed on the driver’s side.
An autopsy conducted in Windber yesterday established the cause of death. Hoy was not injured. State police say their investigation continues and they have not indicated whether charges will be filed.
