Thanks to a grant from the PA Commission on Crime and Deliquency, the United Way of Indiana County is looking to establish a new county-wide coalition focused on youth development and youth crime prevention.
The program that the United Way will use will utilize the Communities That Care model, which according to United Way Of Indiana County Executive Director Jane Lockard-Clawson, uses a public health approach.
A meeting is scheduled for today to bring key leaders of the county together to talk about how they can help out with the implementation of the Communities That Care model. This group would include people involved in education, local and state government, law enforcement, juvenile justice, social services, health services and others. Chances for the general public to help with this program are expected to come later this year.
