A former successful Homer City businessman has died.
Andy Vetula, co-founder of Park n Shop Supermarket, died Monday at the age of 90. Andy was co-founder of Park n Shop with his brother Joe, pioneering the supermarket concept in Homer City after moving Vetula’s Market from its original location in Yankeetown. Originally independent, the family affiliated with Charlie Brothers, suppliers of Shop n Save stores. Upon retirement the store changed hands, operating as a Riverside, Bi Lo, and now Ideal Market.
Vetula was also a member of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Enterprise during the Korean Conflict.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday at the Bowser Funeral Home, and a funeral mass will be held next Monday.
