IUP has announced that seven alumni members will be honored April 7th and 8th through the Distinguished Alumni Awards.
The list of honorees this year includes:
- Artist Ron Donoughe (Class of 1980)
- Colin Helms (Class of 1993), current head of media for TED, an organization that coordinates thought-provoking lectures
- Alan Herman (Class of 1969, masters class of ’71) the Chief Scientific Officer of Coherus Biosciences
- CJ Jaynes (Class of ’79, masters class of ’82) a retired Rear Admiral of the US Navy and the only woman to achieve Maintenance Flag rank.
- Jim Rose (Class of 1990), president and GM of a Seattle TV station that won the Edward R. Murrow award for journalistic excellence
- Leslie Miller Purser (Class of 1980) a major general in the US Army and deputy assistant secretary of the Army.
- Ben McAdoo (Class of 2000), the current head coach of the New York Giants
The weekend will include visits with students in various classroom and informal settings, and will culminate with an awards ceremony on Satrday, April 8th. As part of that, a 2016 recipient of the Distinguished Alumni award who was unable to attend last year’s gala, Andrew Stephenson (Class of 1972) will attend this year to receive his award.
