A US Congressman from Pennsylvania has defied an order to appear before the committee investigating the attack on the Capitol in January of last year.
Congressman Scott Perry’s testimony before the January 6th Committee was supposed to take place Thursday. An attorney says Perry doesn’t believe in the committee’s authority to issue a subpoena, accusing the panel of abusing its power. Members want to hear from Perry because of his alleged role in a plot to replace the US Attorney General during the Trump Administration, with one who would have declared the 2020 election invalid due to voter fraud, despite there being no evidence.
The committee has the option to refer his case to the US Justice Department for possible criminal indictment.
