Indiana Borough Police have filed charges against two men for holding a woman hostage inside her apartment in the 1100 block of Church Street.
Police were alerted to the situation yesterday morning and went to the home, assisted by both state police and IUP police officers. They were able to make contact with and rescue the victim, whose name and age were not released. Police also located 37-year-old Jeremy Raynard Bryant, a homeless man from McKeesport, inside the residence and arrested him. Through their investigation, they identified a second suspect, 33-year-old Stevland Keith Parks, Sr. of Wilkinsburg.
Police say Bryant and Parks had held the woman inside the home against her will, assaulted her and threatened both the victim and her family. They also used her vehicle without consent.
Bryant was charged with one count each of terroristic threats, false imprisonment, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, and unauthorized use of an automobile. He was arraigned before District Judge Guy Haberl and ordered held at the Indiana County Jail, with bond set at $25,000 straight cash. He’s scheduled for a preliminary hearing on January 17th.
Parks was charged via summons with one count each of terroristic threats, false imprisonment, and unauthorized use of an automobile.
