This Saturday, Downtown Indiana will become a hotbed of jazz and blues music with the Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz and Blues Festival, but activities connected with the festival will start tonight.
For the first time in the festival’s history, there will be some musical performances the night before the main festival begins. Two musical performances are on the slate for night at two Indiana establishments. At the Artist’s Hand, Lilly Carone will perform piano jazz from 7-9 tonight, while at H.R. Steinhouse, Dr. Mike Stalteri will perform from 7-10 with Scott Mitsko, Mark Nelson and Josh Ben.
The festival will officially kick off tomorrow at 11 AM as the festival returns to IRMC Park after holding the event along Philadelphia Street in a socially distanced setting last year, and being cancelled outright due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. The day starts with Hugo Cruz and the Marion Center High School Jazz Band. Seven groups will perform throughout the day, and there will also be after-hours concerts at local bars and restaurants at 9:00.
