On Wednesday night, the White Township Supervisors approved applying for a grant that would help pay for foresters to exam White’s Woods.
The application is for $25,000 in CFA Greenways, Trails and Recreation program grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development, and Township Manager Chris Anderson says that the information from the study will help out the Township Stewardship Committee as they continue to work towards putting the stewardship plan together.
The supervisors also discussed the future funding of Citizens’ Ambulance. Supervisor Sandi Gilette said that Citizens’, like many ambulance companies in the state, are going through some financial difficulties, and she said that some townships are considering a fee based on property tax, and she would like the supervisors to consider a fee, as the township doesn’t have a property tax.
The issue is expected to be discussed further at future meetings.
In other business, supervisors approved removing a set of three dead trees from 4th Ward Park at a cost of $900. The three trees are dead, and one of them overhangs a basketball court that has seen a lot of activity as of late.
