The Indiana Area School Board meets tonight with another full agenda, including some items related to the elementary school plan, but much of the meeting will be dedicated to educational issues. Many of those items have to do with preparation for summer classes.
The directors will review the approval letters from the state Education Department for PlanCon Part A, which deals with the project justification and PlanCon Part B, which involves the Ben Franklin school’s schematic design.
They will also be asked to approve a request by the Indiana Fire Association for an access road of at least sixteen feet that will allow a ladder truck to pull past the proposed new Ben Franklin Elementary School building, and a pad to enable aerial operations. The request answers the conditional approval granted by the White Township Planning Commission.
Also on the agenda is the listing of real estate taxes that have been liened in the district. The total of more than $1.2 million in back taxes includes over $644,500 in White Township, more than $431,000 in Indiana Borough, over $185,000 in Armstrong Township, and more than $7,200 in Shelocta Borough.
In addition to a number of agenda items related to summer school, the board will also be asked to approve a resolution that lunch prices remain the same next school year.
