UPDATE: Indiana County District Attorney Patrick Dougherty confirmed that one person died and one person is in critical condition at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, while the two in the Philadelphia Street shooting are in critical condition. Identities of the victims have not been released as of yet. More information will be released at a media conference at the Indiana Borough Building at 2:00 PM today.
Indiana Borough Police are continuing to investigate two shootings that happened near the IUP campus earlier this morning.
Indiana Borough and IUP Police are investigating a shooting that happened around 2:00 this morning in the 1200 block of Oakland Avenue. Two people were injured in that shooting and were taken to the hospital.
Another shooting was reported on Philadelphia Street, but the exact location of the shooting is not known at this time. Again two people were injured and were taken to the hospital.
In an email sent to the IUP Community, IUP Communications and Media Relations Executive Director Michelle Fryling said that two IUP students were being treated. She also confirmed that Indiana Borough Police have both suspects in the shootings in custody, and investigations are continuing.
Indiana Borough Police have scheduled a media conference for today at 2:00 PM at the Borough Council Chambers. More information is expected to be released at that time.
