The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry says that unemployment in Pennsylvania fell slightly in the month of April.
The rate went down one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.8 percent last month. It also represents three-tenths a point decrease from April of 2021. The U.S. unemployment rate went unchanged and remains at 3.6 percent.
The state’s civilian labor force increased by 23,000 over the month. The state employment count rose 28,000 to 6,102,000, while resident unemployment declined by 5,000. The total number of non-farm jobs increased by 11,400 over the month to 5,917,800. The number of jobs increased in 10 of the 11 industry super-sectors. The largest movement was an increase of 69,200 jobs in the leisure and hospitality industry.
