Friday night was a celebration of Jazz and Blues music, as the Westsylvania Jazz and Blues Festival held a fundraiser last night at the Indiana Eagles Club.
The fundraiser helps keep the many performances for the one-day festival free to the public. Nevin Saylor, a former Indiana School District Music Teacher and Jazz afficianado said the festival is an indirect result of attempts to keep jazz and blues music alive in the community as an American art form.
Performing at the fundraiser was Black Cat Moan, who performed at the first Westsylvana Jazz and Blues Festival. The Johnstown and Pittsburgh-based band received their first exposure in the Indiana Area at the festival.
This year’s festival is set for May 27th.
