State Police have announced the results of their statewide patrol efforts over the Christmas Driving period.
Across the state, troopers investigated 622 total crashes, with six people killed in five fatal crashes that happened between December 22nd to the 25th. Those are all increases over the 2017 holiday driving period, but this year had an extra day involved as well. Out of all the crashes, 128 people were injured. There were 54 alcohol-related crashes but no deaths connected with any alcohol-related crashes. Also, police across the state say they made 330 DUI arrests, issued 2460 speeding tickets, 289 seatbelt citations, and 58 Child Seat citations.
Troop A, which includes Indiana County, had a relatively quiet holiday. They investigated 44 crashes, none of them fatal, but six people were injured. Five crashes were alcohol-related . Troopers also made 34 DUI arrests, issued 285 speeding tickets, 35 seatbelt citations, and seven child safety seat citations.
