The Indiana County Commissioners have given their support for a marijuana dispensary to be built in the county.
Indiana County Commissioners Chairman Mike Baker announced at today’s meeting that the Commissioners have written a letter to the State Department of Health to support Agrimed Industries in their plans to open a satellite medical cannabis dispensary in Indiana County. Rahsaan Peak, president of Agrimed talked about why they wanted to choose Indiana as a satellite location because of the ongoing war on opioid addiction.
Indiana County Commissioners Chairman Mike Baker talked about how important the dispensary would be to the county, agreeing with the company on its stance on opioids and the fact that the dispensary would bring jobs and future job opportunities to the county.
In other business, a project to help improve trails at Buttermilk Falls was approved. The project will put in a series of steps and platforms to safely guide visitors at the site, safeguard the natural resources of the site, and reduce the county’s potential liability for any unsafe paths. Vince Building Company was the low bidder for the project at $235,000, and that money will come from the Marcellus Shale Legacy Fund, the Park Enterprise Fund and the Park Legacy Fund. The commissioners also approved a bid of $27,740 from Sharp Paving to pave a one-mile stretch at the north end of the Hoodlebug Trail.
