Gas prices continue to skyrocket as the cost of crude oil remains high.
Prices are closing in on the $110 a barrel mark, and those volatile price changes are having an impact at the pump, with the national average now up to $4.48 a gallon. That is a one-cent increase from yesterday, a 16-cent increase from last week and a 41-cent increase from last month at this time. Last year at this time, the national average was $3.04.
Pennsylvania’s average this morning, according to Triple-A, is now $4.62 a gallon, an increase of a penny from yesterday, up 12 cents from last week and a 46-cent increase from last month. Last year at this time, the statewide average was $3.14 a gallon.
Indiana County’s average is one of the lowest in the state at $4.51 a gallon, and is the lowest average in the region as of this morning. Indiana is followed by Westmoreland County at $4.52 a gallon, then Jefferson County at $4.53 a gallon, Cambria at $4.54 a gallon, Armstrong at $4.55 a gallon, and Clearfield the highest in the region at $4.57 a gallon.
The lowest county-wide average in the state is Clarion at $4.49 a gallon. The highest average is in Bradford at $4.77 a gallon.
Expect the averages in Indiana County to make a jump today, as one station in Indiana has already reported to GasBuddy.com that their price per gallon jumped 20 cents a gallon to $4.69 a gallon. Other stations have reported prices at $4.49 a gallon in Indiana, Homer City, Clymer and Blairsville.
