After suffering an elbow to the head — courtesy of Jacob Trouba — on Wednesday, the Penguins announced earlier today that Sidney Crosby will not play in tonight’s Game Six against the Rangers.
Coach Mike Sullivan told reporters that Crosby participated in morning skate, but he will still be out of the lineup for tonight. Goalie Tristan Jarry was seen on the ice today but is also out for tonight as he continues to recover from a broken foot.
Forward Rickard Rakell skated with skills coach Ty Hennes this morning and was deemed a “game-time decision” for tonight.
Defenseman Brian Dumolin is “continuing his off-ice recovery and his status has not changed.
Reports say the Penguins practiced with a first line of Jake Guentzel-Evgeni Malkin-Bryan Rust this morning. Evan Rodrigues practiced with Danton Heinen and Kasperi Kapenen on the second line. Jason Zucker skated on the third line with Jeff Carter and Brock McGinn.
Louis Domingue was the first goalie off the ice today and practiced in the starter’s net.
Tonight’s airtime for the Penguins and Rangers is 6 p.m. on U92.5 FM and the U92 Sports Channel.
