BASEBALL
Marion Center’s TJ Lynn hit a walk-off single to score Dylan Rummell in the bottom of the 7th inning to give the Stingers a 4-3 win over Northern Cambria, preserving their undefeated record and propelling them into the Heritage Conference championship game next week. Marion Center’s Ty Ryen allowed two runs in five-plus innings, striking out five. Northern Cambria scored three runs in the 6th to tie the game. Braden Reichenbauch was the winning pitcher in relief. Landin Bennett led the Stingers with a 3-for-3 day at the plate.
The Stingers will play United for the Heritage Conference championship next Monday night at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City.
Homer-Center played two games yesterday, beating Penns Manor on the road, 20-1, and losing to Cambria Heights at home, 12-5. In the first game, Cody Housholder threw a 5-inning complete game, striking out five, and giving up just one unearned run on two hits. Braden Dunn was 2-for-3, Anthony Rowland was 2-for-2, and Mason Bell was 1-for-3 with a three-run double. In the second game, Ethan Roser was 3-for-4 and Owen Saiani was 2-for-3 for the Wildcats.
United stomped Blacklick Valley, 17-2. Wade Plowman, Caden McCully, Brad Felix, Isaac Worthington, and Evan Thomas all had two hits. Plowman had a double and Joe Marino and McCully each tripled. Senior Jon Henry got the win.
Indiana led Ligonier Valley, 9-0, heading into the 5th inning but the pitching fell apart and the Rams scored six in the 5th, two in the 6th, and six more in the 7th to complete the comeback and win the game, 14-11. Steven Budash was 3-for-5 with a double and 4 RBIs, and Ben Ryen was 2-for-4 with a triple. Lincoln Trusal, Nick Love, and Zack Tortorella were all 2-for-4 for Indiana.
SOFTBALL
Homer-Center dropped Penns Manor, 14-7.
LACROSSE
Indiana clubbed Greensburg Salem, 20-5, in their final Section game yesterday, raising its record to 13-1. Kennedi Kunkle led all scorers with five goals, Kyla Weaver scored four, Gianna Brody and Brynlee Schawl each had three. Kayla Leon, Caroline Albert, Lucia Clark, Cecilia Spadafora and Anna Buterbaugh rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece. In goal, Anna Buterbaugh stopped four shots and Ava Thomas two.
