The Indiana County Commissioners approved two ordinances concerning the Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance programs for two municipalities.
The LERTA ordinances will help with blight revitalization in Burrell Township and in Indiana Borough. Commissioners Chairman Mike Keith said that this will be a big benefit to the property owner looking to make improvements.
The LERTA program would have a ten-year timespan, while Indiana Borough’s timespan would be seven years.
In other business, the commissioners also approved a grant program from the District Attorney’s office. The $21,750 federal grant money will be used for local police to enforce DUI, speeding, aggressive driving, occupant protection and pedestrian violations.
