The Purchase Line school board gave preliminary approval to next year’s budget at last night’s meeting.
Projected expenses come to $21,214,193 with revenues at $20,818,975. A tax increase to the Act 1 limit was also approved, which would mean an increase of $21.09 for the average homeowner. Superintendent Shawn Ford said that traditionally, budget discussions will continue as the board will look at ways to lessen the impact on district residents. Also, residents that applied for the homestead/farmstead relief programs could actually see taxes go down as a $35.00 relief was a part of the budget.
The budget will be up for final approval next month.
The board also approved changing the 10-month high school receptionist and 10-month central support services secretary positions to 12-month positions with the consolidation and realignment of the duties of the High School Guidance and Transportation Secretary position. The board also approved the list of graduating students, and they approved Pastor Jeremy Puckett from Fire Now ministries as the keynote speaker for Baccalaureate services.
