BASEBALL
Undefeated Marion Center pummeled River Valley, 22-1, yesterday. The Stingers broke it open with a seven-run 5th inning. Pitcher Ty Ryen gave up just one run on one hit over four innings, with nine strikeouts. He also hit a home run. The Stingers had 17 hits on the afternoon, with Ryen, Dylan Rummell, Landin Bennett, Alex Stewart, and Skyler Olp all having multiple hits. Rummell was 4-for-5. Braden Staats doubled for River Valley.
Homer-Center played out of conference and lost to Ligonier Valley, 17-7. Owen Saiani was 3-for-4 for the Wildcats.
At Altoona for the Curve Classic yesterday, Northern Cambria beat United, 8-5, and then Portage nipped the Colts, 2-1, in the semifinals.
Apollo Ridge downed West Shamokin, 11-5.
SOFTBALL
Marion Center beat Homer Center, 12-5. Neither team entered any stats for the game.
Northern Cambria clobbered Penns Manor, 34-0.
