During his remarks at the Council of Trustees meeting, IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll said he was optimistic about the Fall 2022 enrollment numbers.
In his report, Driscoll said that while the state system funding from the state government has “either declined or not met our needs to fulfill our mission of providing a quality, affordable education,” he is hopeful that the trend will change for the better with the Governor’s budget proposal. While IUP will serve fewer students than it once did, he hopes that the university will be able to respond to the needs of the world. Driscoll added that even in this early phase, student enrollment numbers are keeping pace with this year’s figures. Driscoll credited that to the success of some of the recent moves concerning tuition.
In other business, the council of trustees approved some fee increases and new fees for the paramedic program. The increase is in the Paramedic Lab Package Fee from $500 to $1500, and the addition of a program extension fee of $2300 for students who need six additional months to complete the program.
The council also approved resolutions of commendations for the IUP women’s swimming and men’s basketball teams.
