The Blairsville and Black Lick fire departments were busy during yesterday’s storms with three calls within a two hour time span.
The first call was reported at 6:13 PM for a vehicle accident along Old William Penn Highway in Burrell Township. State police were also dispatched to the scene. Black Lick fire officials said that a vehicle sheared a gas meter and struck a utility pole in the area of the Villa restaurant. No injuries were reported. Crews remained on the scene to secure the gas line.
While crews were on the scene of that incident, they were dispatched for an odor investigation at the VP Racing Fuels gas station on Route 22. The odor turned out to be wires burning. The power had flickered as a result of the incident. Crews said that the wires were burning in a cooler. Main power was shut off after talking with the building owner.
The third call was for a tree down on Indiana Avenue in Blairsville Borough at 7:30 PM.
