Today is Arbor day and in advance of that, White Township’s supervisors celebrated by planting trees in one of the township’s parks.
Supervisors Chairman George Lenz and Supervisor Sandy Gillette on Thursday planted white oak seedlings near the Max Dog Park in Getty Heights Park. Getty Heights is the third largest park in the township and is part of the 250 or so acres of forest land that the township oversees.

Arbor day, which is observed on the last Friday in April, was created to observe the importance of trees to the Earth’s ecology. This year marks the 148th Arbor Day in the United States.
