IUP is one of 40 universities selected for a program to help students study abroad through the acquisition of passports.
The grant from the Institute of International Education American Passport Project will allow IUP to give qualifying first-year students the funds to acquire a passport to support their efforts to study abroad. Along with that, the University’s office of International Education has developed a support and mentoring program for qualifying students. The program, called the Passport Scholars Group, will match first-year students with an upper-class student who has studied or traveled abroad, and the members will attend special sessions about studying abroad.
Qualification guidelines include being in the first year of study at IUP, and qualification for national PELL grants. The program will start in 2022.
