The Pirates were on the verge of finally breaking through against Milwaukee yesterday, but Andrew McCutchen spoiled the Bucs’ chance for a first win against the Brewers in six games.

The Pirates begin a three-game series against San Diego tonight at PNC Park. Zach Thompson starts for the Pirates against the Padres’ Yu Darvish. Airtime is 6;10 on WCCS.
ALTOONA
The Altoona Curve piled up fourteen hits, but still fell to Akron, 9-8. Shortstop Liover Peguero was 4-for-5 with a homer and two doubles for the Curve. Aaron Shackleford hit a three-run home run and Lolo Sanchez, Andreas Alvarez, and Matt Frazier was had two hits.
