Shirley A. Frycklund, age 88, of Indiana died Thursday, November 1, 2018 at
Indiana Regional Medical Center.
She was born in 1929 in Clarion, PA, to James Jacob and Helen June (Hoch)
Arner.
Shirley was a faithful member of the Grace United Methodist Church for over 50
years.
She was very active and supportive for the United Methodist Women.
She married George Robert Frycklund on July 28, 1951.
After marriage, she became a teacher for two years in the Philadelphia area and
went back to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse at Indiana Hospital
School of Nursing.
Her career also included becoming an EMT, an Industrial Health Nurse, and a
Home Health Nurse. She was the State President for the LPN Association of
Pennsylvania, a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the
American Revolution.
Shirley is survived by her two sons and one daughter – David (Susan) Frycklund
of Indiana, PA; Daniel (Melissa) Frycklund of Hughesville, PA; Deborah (John)
Patterson of Jefferson, MD; seven grandchildren – Erik (Morgan); Brian (Megan);
Brad; Nicholas(Jessica); Alyssa Pollock (George); Zachary; Joshua and four great
grandchildren – Dylan; Georgia; Kolton and Ivan.
Her lifelong friend – Leona Weitz and her companion, friend and caregiver, Cinda
Ashbaugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Robert in 2010,
her granddaughter Sarah Olivia; her brother James; and her sister Jane.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the
Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana.
Additional visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-3 p.m. at the Grace United
Methodist Church with a funeral service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Kathy Mihoerck
officiating.
Interment will be made on Monday next to her beloved husband in the Oakland
Cemetery
