James Francis Watters, 93, of Indiana died at home, surrounded
by his adoring family on October 11, 2018. Jim, the son of
Charles and Virginia May Watters was born in 1925 in Gallitzin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Nora Jean Chase
Watters and four children; Susan Wesmiller (Steve), Thomas
(Vickie), Sally Touscany (Michael), Paul (Melissa) and
daughter-in-law Marie Watters; 14 grandchildren and 9
great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law Joan Watters and many
nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by son Timothy, and brothers
Donald, Thomas and William. He was so loved by his family,
that seven members of his extended family were named after
him.
A veteran of WW II, Jim was deployed to the Pacific Theatre as
a US Marine where he participated in the Okinawa Island
Campaign and Third Fleet Operations.
He held life-memberships at the Indiana VFW Post #1989, the
American Legion Post #141, and Indiana Elks. He was an active
member of the Grace United Methodist Church for over fifty
years.
Death: October 11, 2018
He was an employee of the Prudential Insurance Company for 25
years. After retiring from Prudential, Jim and Jean spent the next
30 winters as Snow Birds in Myrtle Beach. In the summer, his
love of gardening brought them home to Indiana by early spring.
Jim was always an athlete and loved sports, especially Friday
night Indiana High School Football games and watching hockey.
Jim volunteered for many years at the Jimmy Stewart Museum.
He truly believed it was a wonderful life, and lived every day to
the fullest.
Friends will be received on Monday, October 15th from 5:00 –
8:00 PM at Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A Memorial
Service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on
Tuesday, October 16th at 11am with Pastor Kathy Mihoreck
officiating. Interment will be held immediately following the
service at Greenwood Cemetery.
The VFW will provide military honors at graveside.
