James Albert Ferretti, Sr., 98, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018 at the home of his daughter in Valrico, Fl.
The son of Albert and Goldie (Shaffer) Ferretti, he was born August 4, 1920 in Myerstown, PA.
Mr. Ferretti was a veteran of the Army. He had worked in security at Federal Lab., Tunnelton, and retired from LaMantia Produce, Blairsville, as a truck driver. He also was a former Blairsville police officer.
He was a life member of Blairsville Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his daughter, Dorothy Walkinshaw (Thomas) of Valrico, FL; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; a brother, John Pandullo of North Carolina; two sisters, Lena Koreni of Blairsville and Pearl Astolos (Charles) of Saltsburg and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mattie G. (Kelly) Ferretti on August 7, 2018, daughter, Deborah Ackerman, son, James A. “Buzzy” Ferretti, Jr., four brothers, Bill Pandullo, Rudy Pandullo, Sam Pandullo and Dave Pandullo and a sister, Gloria Young.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M., Friday, October 19, 2018, at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A blessing service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with Fr. Scott Lill officiating.
Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.

America 250
The America250 celebration is coming up. Are you doing anything special?
Yes! Can't wait for the Friday night parade and Saturday's YMCA Star Spangled Celebration at Mack Park!
We'll do our typical picnic and sparklers thing!
We're traveling to some great U.S. historical sites, such as Philadelphia or Washington, D.C.
Nothing special. Just a typical weekend at our house.
