Donald E. Owens, 87, of Indiana, passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at Bethany Place.
A son of the late Karl W. and Mildred Rowe Owens, Sr., he was born May 12, 1931, in Indiana.
Mr. Owens was a graduate of Indiana High School. He was employed for the Orvis Company for 26 years, starting as a customer service representative and retired as the manager of the dealer department. Don was a member of the Allied Club and a founding member of Trout Unlimited, Chapter 53 – Ken Sink. He was an avid Penn State fan and loved hunting, fly fishing and fly tying.
Don is survived by three daughters: Linda A. Porter, of Indiana; Sandra D. Brainard, of Arlington, VT; Kimberly A. Kelly and husband Jib Kelly, of San Pedro, CA; his only son, Ronald R. Owens and wife Robin (Townslee) Owens, of Dorset, VT; eight grandchildren: Mandy Porter, Christina Allen, Kylie Hosley, Andrew Brainard, Geoffrey MacEllven, Kaytlyn MacEllven, Heather Abbott, Jamie Owens and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Jayne Owens; and a brother, Karl W. Owens, Jr.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., Indiana, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Terry Semsick officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
