Danny Lee Salsgiver, 72, of Glen Campbell, PA died at on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
The son of Charles S. and Geraldine M. (Wilson) Salsgiver, he was born on May 13, 1946 in Spangler, PA.
Danny was a graduate of Purchase Line High School. He served during Vietnam in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967. He was a lifetime member of the Glen Campbell American Legion Post 432, where he was a member for over fifty continuous years and was also a life member of the V.F.W.
For over thirty years, he was a self-employed part owner/operator of S & S Paving.
Danny married Mary Ann “Toots” (Maddy) Salsgiver on March 8, 1970 and they shared over thirty-six years of marriage until her death on August 5, 2006 – exactly twelve years prior to the day he passed away.
He is survived by his three children: Brian L. Salsgiver and wife Michele of York, PA; Kevin L. Salsgiver and wife Beth of Mechanicsburg, PA and Angie L. Salsgiver & Chad Wray of Glen Campbell, PA; his five siblings: James Salsgiver of Florida; Carol Ann Ritchey of Cincinnati, OH; Robert E. Salsgiver and wife Marsha of Glen Campbell, PA; Cheryl Vaneman of Lake Nona, FL and Ted Salsgiver of Glen Campbell, PA and his six grandchildren: Payton, Jordyn and Carson Salsgiver and Olivia; Chad and Andre Wray.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother: Jerry Salsgiver; his sister, Dorothy Straw and his twin sister: Sue Zahursky.
A gathering for family and friends will be held from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. A gathering will also occur at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at which time there will be a procession to Fry Cemetery in Grant Township where military honors will be observed by the Glen Campbell American Legion Post 432.
