Theodore J. “Ted” Banks, Sr., 84, of Marion Center, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2016, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late Theodore and Margaret Ann Buggey Banks, he was born April 8, 1934 in Chambersville.
Mr. Banks was a graduate of Indiana High School, where he played on the undefeated high school football team. Ted was of the catholic faith. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and the Pennsylvania National Guard for 20 years. Ted was president of the Marion Center School Board for 12 years and was a life member of the B.P.O. E. Lodge 931. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, organizing his family reunion, gardening, working around the farm and spending time in his office.
Ted is survived by his wife of 60 years, Connie Kinter Banks, of Marion Center; a son, Theodore James “TJ” Banks, Jr. and wife Barbara J. of Marion Center; a son-in-law, Kim E. Lyttle, of Marion Center; two sisters: Margaret “Peggy” Cagle, of Rogers, AR; Patricia Elaine Jedlicka, of The Woodlands, TX; two grandchildren: Thomas M. Lyttle and Christina C. Lyttle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Jo Lyttle; his brother, H. Ronald Banks; and two sisters: Mercedes Self and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Calhoun.
There is no visitation. Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruce Shannon officiating. Robinson-Lytle, Inc., Indiana, is in charge of arrangements.
