Donald Raymond Askew, age 69 of Penn Run, died Thursday,
July 19, 2018 at his home.
He was born in 1949 in Spangler to Thomas B. and Lucille
“Dolly” Stine Askew.
Don was a 1967 graduate of Marion Center Area High School,
and attended Slippery Rock University.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the US Army
and received the Bronze Star with Valor, the Purple Heart, and
the Combat Infantry Badge.
He was self-employed as a representative for visual display
advertising.
Don was an avid hunter, archer, and fisherman.
He was a competitive shooter for many years in archery, sporting
clays, and compressed air guns. “The Donald” was a huge history
buff and loved watching war documentaries.
He loved riding motorcycles, fast cars, and living life to the
fullest.
He was a true living legend and hero and his memory will live
on.
He is survived by four children – Lisa Taylor and husband
Jeremy, Clymer; Luke Askew, Pittsburgh; their mother Linda
Askew, Indiana; Garrett Askew, Ryland Askew, and their mother
Kimberlee Askew, Cannonsburg; two brothers – Dennis Askew;
Death: July 19, 2018
Darrell Askew, Marion Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on
Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Bowser-Minich Funeral
Home, Indiana, followed by a celebration of Don’s life with
military honors for his service.
