BASEBALL
It was a showdown game between Indiana and North Catholic for first place in Section 1 of the WPIAL 4A baseball standings.

Marion Center scored four runs in the seventh inning yesterday and doubled up West Shamokin, 8-4. Landin Bennett opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st. West Shamokin scored three in the 5th on a Bo Swartz bases-clearing triple. Marion Center racked up 12 hits on the afternoon, including a 3-for-4 day for Skyler Olp and multi-hit games for Bennett, Parker Black, and Ty Ryen. In the 4-run 7th, Bennett and Alex Stewart singled and Dylan Rummell doubled. Braden Reichenbach got the win and Ty Ryen picked up a save by recording the last seven outs.
River Valley edged Penns Manor, 6-5.
SOFTBALL
River Valley’s Hannah Foust recorded her 300th career strikeout as the Panthers shut out Penns Manor, 15-0. Belle Pynos was 4-for-4 with two home runs and 7 RBIs. Brin Gardner was also 4-for-4 and drove in three. Tori Foust hit a two-run homer and Hannah Foust drove in two with a triple.
West Shamokin bested Marion Center, 9-1.;
Indiana lost to Kiski Area, 10-5. Maggie Cunningham had two hits and drove in two and Chloe McHugh doubled and had two RBIs.
LACROSSE
The Indiana girls lacrosse team lost for the first time this season yesterday, 15-6 to Hampton. For Indiana, Gianna Brody and Kyla Weaver each scored three goals and Anna Buterbaugh had nine saves in goal. Indiana falls to 7-1 with the loss.
TRACK & FIELD
Both Indiana teams lost yesterday in a track & field meet at Norwin. The girls fell, 112-38, and the boys were beaten, 102-48.
Abbie Huey set a new school record with her 58.26-second win in the 400 meters. She also won the 100-meter dash. Cadence Ullman won the 200 meters, Katie Kovalchick won the discuss, and the team of Emmy Davis, Rachel Gill, Eve Kuzneski, and Jillian Ranes won the 4-by-400 relay.
For the boys, Owen Putt won the 400 meters, Seth Weaver the 16-hundred, Stanford Webb the high jump and Charlie Weber the pole vault. The team of Putt, Jacob Gill, and Will and Jon Berzonsky won the 4-by-400 relay.
