Raymond E. Calhoun, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.
A son of the late William M. and Hazel McHenry Calhoun, he was born Nov. 15, 1926 and lived most of his life on his farm in the Shelocta area.
He was a graduate of Indiana High School, after which he worked for five years at Eastern States Farmers Exchange, now Agway. In 1951, he began to work at S&T Bank, where his 40-year career began as a teller. He retired as the senior vice president of facilities management.
He was married to Lois M. (Orr) Calhoun on Sept. 5, 1945, and they enjoyed 68 years together before Lois’ death in April 2014.
He was a devoted father and husband and enjoyed traveling with his wife and repairing everything for anyone who would ask for help.
He had four children. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Sandra L. Dennison, in August, 2010, who was married to Allan Dennison. They have two sons, Mark and Adam, along with four grandchildren.
He is survived by a son, William H. Calhoun and wife Sandra. They have a son Aaron and a daughter Alyssa Sobieray along with seven grandchildren. He is also survived by a daughter: Nany J. Grillo and husband Joseph, and a daughter Cheryl L. Stevens and husband Carl. They have two sons, Gregory and Benjamin, and a daughter Traci Sexton, along with five children.
He is survived by a sister, Ethel Aspenson, of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Moose, and two brothers, William P. Calhoun and Fred L. Calhoun.
A brief committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakland Cemetery prior to interment, with Carl Stevens officiating. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Indiana County in the names of Raymond and Lois Calhoun.
