Ronald E. “Crickett” Gima, 66, of Clymer, PA died on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.
The son of the late Mike and Dorothy E. (Shaffer) Gima, Ron was born on April 5, 1952 in Indiana, PA.
He was a graduate of Penns Manor High School Class of 1970.
Ron was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army, where he served two tours of duty: one from 1970-1972 during the Vietnam War and another from 1981-1984 leaving the Army with the rank of SP4. As a soldier, he had worked as a rotor blade repairman and a mortarman.
His allegiance to the military was a significant part of his life. For over forty years, Ron was a member of the Clymer American Legion Post #222, where he served as the Chaplain for 15 years and took great pride in assisting with the observance of military funeral honors. He was a life member of the D. A.V. and the VFW Post #6820, as well as being a member of the LOOM #833.
He had also been employed with the Construction Local 1058 in Pittsburgh, PA and with S. W. Jack Drilling.
Ron was one of fourteen children.
At Ron’s request there will not be a visitation. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Cemetery (Church of the Resurrection) in Cameron’s Bottom, PA presided over by Rev. Fr. William A. Lascelles and Rev. Robert White. Military honors will be provided by his friends at the Clymer American Legion Post #222.
