Mary R. (Ream) Obush, 90, of Homer City, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Communities of Indian Haven.
She was born Nov. 16, 1927, in Glasgow, and was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Celia (Britton) Ream.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Obush, and brothers Vince, Harold, Theodore, Marlin and George.
Mary is survived by daughters Leslie Martin (Jim Martin); Terri (Bob) Elias, of Indiana; Cathy (Bill) Friel, of Indiana; Carol (Phillip) Rickard, of Mundy’s Corner; grandsons JJ Martin (Samantha New) and Josh Martin; Andrew (Nicole) Rickard and Steven Rickard; sister Chloe Knight, of Chestertown, Md.; and sister-in-law Lois Ream, of Mount Joy.
She was a member of Homer City United Presbyterian Church, where she was an Elder and a Deacon, member of the Joraii Class, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.
Mary was a Girl Scout leader and member of the Homer City Senior Citizens. She was employed by the Homer-Center School District for 23 years where she was the secretary to the principal.
Along with her husband, John, she was an avid polka music fan and took bus trips to many polka festivals.
Family and friends will be received at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Homer City United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Lea Austin officiating. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
