Velma June Marshall, age 89, of Indiana, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Indiana Square Personal Care Home.
She was born in 1928 in Conemaugh Township (Somerset County), PA to Clayton and Anna Grace (Trexel) Thomas.
Velma was a member of the Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Indiana. While her children were young, Velma was a full-time homemaker.
She was later employed by Riverside in Indiana, Cameron Manor, and Scenery Hill Nursing Home in the food service area. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, and watching Jeopardy.
Velma is survived by three sons – Larry James and wife Karen, Indiana; Thomas Lee and wife Linda, Indiana; John Irwin, “Jack” and wife Joyce, Washington, PA; grandchildren -Shawn I. Marshall and wife Betsy, Pittsburgh; Stephanie A. Skivington and husband Paul, Pittsburgh; one step-granddaughter –
Stephanie Lynn Gaydis, King of Prussia; great grandsons – Connor Marshall and John Skivington; sister –
Anna Mae Rumbaugh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen S. Marshall in 2009, brother – Claude “Harold” Thomas, and sisters – Edith Marie Thomas and Marian Ruth Thomas Hobson.
Friends will be received on Friday from 6 to 8 PM and on Saturday from 9:30 until the time of the service at 11:00 AM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. The Rev. Douglas Snyder will officiate.
Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 1654 Old Rte. 119, Hwy N., Indiana, PA 15701; or to Citizen’s Ambulance Service, 805 Hospital Road, Indiana, PA 15701.
