Leonard E. “Len” Hess, 73 of Stahlstown, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg.
Born, July 8, 1944 in Saltsburg, he was a son of the late Harry L and Alice M. (Fennel) Hess.
Len lived in the Saltsburg area most of his life. He was employed as a Postmaster with the United States Postal Service in Saltsburg for 34years.
Len was a former member of the Sons of Zebedee Lutheran Church in Saltsburg and Federation of Sportsmen Club, where he was a member for 30 years. During this time, he was a Pres/State for two years and a member of the Hall of Fame. Also, he was a member of the Pennsylvania Wildlife Federation and served as Chairman of the Board for three years, Conemaugh Valley Conservancy as a board member and the Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Latrobe .
Len is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda F. (Stiffey) Hess of Greensburg, sons; Ronald D. (Tammy) Nolf of Manor and George M. Nolf of Uniontown, daughter; Katherine A. (Bruce) Sleasman of Youngwood, grandchildren; Haley(Alex) Comisak, Sydney, Mathew, Jeremy and Christopher Nolf and two brothers; John G. Hess of Saltsburg and Harry E. Hess of Indiana.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 1:00pm until the hour of service at 2:00pm in the Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 647 Bethel Church Road, Latrobe with Vicar Eric Damon officiating. Private burial in Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg.
