Marion Center School District Superintendent Clint Weimer on Friday issued a letter to inform the public of a recent incident involving a student with a knife at a bus stop.
Weimer wrote that the student displayed the knife for others who were waiting for their bus to arrive. He says that at no time did the student threaten anyone – students or staff – and that before getting on the bus, the knife was discarded near a tree.
Weimer writes that there was no indication that the student meant to harm anyone and the district is addressing the incident according to its policies and procedures. He encourages parents and guardians to remind their children that knives or any other potentially dangerous items should never be brought to school, school bus stops, or to school-related activities.
