An Indiana man faces charges connected with an accident in June where a pedestrian was hit in the crosswalk in Downtown Indiana.
Borough Police say 23-year-old Nathan Semsick is facing charges of aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, two counts of DUI and summary traffic offenses for his part in the incident on June 5th at the intersection of 4th and Philadelphia Street before the current four-way-red patterns were put in place. Police determined that Semsick was behind the wheel of the car that hit a 62-year-old man who was hit in the crosswalk while the pedestrian walk sign was lit. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and while he is out of the hospital, he continues to recover. Semsick was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance.
An arraignment hearing was held October 23rd, and bond was set at $50,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 AM on November 5th.
Indiana Borough Police were assisted by State Police, Indiana Fire Association, Citizen’s Ambulance, the county DA’s office and the borough public works crew.
