State police have not released any new details on the crash that left at least one person injured and tied up traffic on Route 22 for a few hours yesterday.
Indiana County 911 reported the crash at 9:43 AM and sent the Blairsville and Black Lick fire departments, state police and Citizen’s Ambulance to the intersection of 22 and Resort Drive. Unconfirmed reports say that a car was going west on 22 and was turning into Plaza Drive when it was hit by a coal truck headed east. The two cars went off the road and into the S&T Bank parking lot, with the car catching fire and the truck crashing into some parked cars.
One person had to be life-flighted to Conemaugh Memorial with unknown injuries. State police were on the scene for about three hours as their accident reconstruction and motor carrier teams investigated the crash. Because of that, traffic was temporarily diverted through the Resort Plaza shopping center parking lot.
