Penguins President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas is scheduled to speak about the condition of Ben Kindel this morning at ten o’clock, right before the Pens take the ice for practice in Cranberry. The 19-year-old Kindel suffered a “medical episode” on the team plane as it was leaving Salt Lake City on Tuesday, so the plane returned to the airport and he was taken to the University of Utah Hospital, where he remained as of yesterday.
Speaking on the Penguins Radio Network yesterday, coach Dan Muse said the team is hopeful that Kindel can fly back to Pittsburgh today.
The Penguins have lost four games in a row and normally against the Florida Panthers that would be a bad sign, but they may catch a break tonight. The Panthers were beaten by Ottawa 5-1 last night with backup goaltender Akira Schmid in goal. Regular starter Jacob Markstrom was put on injured reserve on Tuesday and the Penguins may be facing rookie goalie Cooper Black, making his NHL debut.
Faceoff tonight at PPG Paints Arena is shortly after 7 PM. The airtime on 92.5 FM U92 is at six.
