The Steelers were back to work yesterday in their first practice for Sunday’s game against the Colts at Acrisure Stadium.
Slot corner Jalen Ramsey did not practice. He has a broken wrist but the Steelers did not say if his absence was due to that or simply for a veteran’s day off. He played with the broken wrist last week against Cleveland. Cornerback Jamel Dean was out with an ankle injury.
On the offense, wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. was a limited practice participant with his lingering foot injury and after practice, he was getting around the locker room with a mobility scooter. Running back Rico Dowdle returned after being out with a dislocated toe, and was also limited.
Coach Mike McCarthy says that with Week Five now here, the Steelers know they can be better than they have been so far.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers says the Colts are a good defensive team, especially since they added cornerback Sauce Gardner last season the week after they played the Steelers.
Newly-acquired cornerbacks Sean Murphy-Bunting and Terell Smith both practiced and both have been added to the 53-man roster. Murphy-Bunting was signed off Tampa Bay’s practice squad and Smith off Washington’s practice squad.
After clearing waivers, cornerback Doneiko Slaughter was re-signed to the Steelers’ practice squad.
