Today is the first Sunday of archery deer hunting season. Pennsylvania hunters gained thirteen more Sundays under the new deer hunting regulations this year.
Hunters can bag one antlered and one antlerless deer this year, unless they have purchased additional antlerless deer tags. Under the state Game Commission’s new regulations, every Sunday in-season is open for hunting. The archery season runs through November 20th, then resumes from December 26th through January 24th, after firearms season ends. Firearms season is November 28th through December 13th.
The new regulations also require anyone using State Game Lands for non-hunting purposes to wear 250 square inches of fluorescent orange on their head, neck, or back, or an orange hat. And there are new rules designed to combat Chronic Wasting Disease.
