The Pitt Panthers outlasted the Virginia Tech Hokies 35-33.
The Panthers were facing some adversity throughout the night as they lost quarterback Mason Heintschel to an apparent right knee injury when he was hit on the sidelines as he was going out of bounds. He was ruled out but later returned to the sideline on crutches. Backup QB Holden Greiner went 8 for 12 for 78 yards and a touchdown.
It came down to a last-second field goal attempt by Virgina Tech that failed to clear the left upright. The Panthers remain undefeated at 5-0 and are as of today, number 1 in the ACC with the rest of the conference action to take place today.
