Another measles-related death is being reported in Lancaster County. State health officials say an unvaccinated resident who recently tested positive for measles has died. This is the third measles-associated death in Lancaster County, and the fifth in Pennsylvania.
As of yesterday, the PA Department of Health reports 943 total cases in Pennsylvania, an increase of 119 over the last seven days. 176 people have been hospitalized across the state for measles. Indiana County’s case total increased by three to 17 over the last few days. The most cases in our region is in Jefferson County at 42, while Clearfield County now has 30. Armstrong and Westmoreland Counties have two apiece and Cambria County has one.
The CDC recognized a second measles death in the U.S. this week, which is still short of Pennsylvania’s official count.
