Indiana County’s Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate went down once again in August.
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry announced that Indiana County’s unemployment rate was 3.2%, a drop of three-tenths of a percentage point from July. Comparing Indiana to the surrounding counties, Westmoreland County is at 3.1%. Jefferson County is at 3.5%, Clearfield checks in with 3.6%, Armstrong is at 3.8% and Cambria County is the highest in the region at 4.2%. The lowest unemployment rate in the state is Montour County at 2.4% while Cameron was the highest at 4.7%.
The seasonally-adjusted civilian labor force, which is the number of people working or looking for work, went up by 100 to 36,000. While there was a drop of 100 in the number of unemployed residents in the county, there was an increase of 300 in the number of those employed.
