The Steelers have an accelerated practice schedule this week, getting ready for a Thursday night game in Cleveland, where they’ve lost four primetime games in a row, in 2009, 2019, 2022, and 2024. Overall, they’ve also lost five consecutive Thursday night games.
Coach Mike McCarthy said yesterday that Sunday’s win over the Bengals wasn’t perfect, but early season games often aren’t.
At a walk-through practice yesterday, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was listed as a full participant after missing the season’s first three games.
McCarthy said he is hopeful Porter can suit up for the first time on Thursday.
Defensive back Jalen Ramsey was listed as limited by a wrist injury and he was wearing a sling in the locker room. McCarthy said it’s too early to tell if he will be able to play. Cornerback Brandin Echols was limited and is in concussion protocol. Running back Rico Dowdle remained out with a toe injury.
For Cleveland, wide receiver Tylan Wallace, center Elgton Jenkins, and guard Teven Jenkins all are listed as missing practice, but the Browns were off, so that is just a team estimation of their status had the team worked out.
Steelers players will have their league-mandated Tuesday off today, but then they will be hard at it tomorrow, with one day to go before kickoff.
