A 22-year-old Johnstown woman has been sentenced to up to life in prison after pleading guilty but mentally ill to charges related to the murder of Hayden Gareffa in 2022.
District Attorney Robert Manzi says Summer Settlemyer was sentenced to at least 50 years and up to life in a state correctional institution for the murder charge. She also pleaded guilty but mentally ill to aggravated assault, kidnapping and two counts of criminal conspiracy.
Settlemyer was part of a group of five that took Gareffa from his grandmother’s home on Route 403 on October 20th of 2022 and stabbed him multiple times. He was found dead along Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township.
Those additional sentences will run consecutively to each other, but concurrently with the murder sentence.
